Looks like he's got his face split in half. But what you see is much more extraordinary than it looks.

This cat could be a rare example of **chemerism***, a biological condition in which one individual has two different genetic patrimonies.

How is that possible?

In the very early stages of development, two distinct embryos, which could become two brothers, merge forming a single organism. The result is a single animal composed of cells with two different DNA.

It is precisely this genetic peculiarity to create, in some cases, designs of the incredibly clean cloak: almost perfect lines, colors that seem separated with a ruler and an unusual aspect to seem retouched to the computer.

There is also another condition, called ** Genetic Mosaicism**, which can produce similar variations in the color of the cape. However, it is a different phenomenon: in mosaicism DNA changes after conception through cell mutations, while in chimerism comes from the union of two embryos.

In most cases, these conditions do not compromise animal health.

Cats live a completely normal life, unaware of becoming a small masterpiece of genetics.

Nature can sometimes create works of art that no artist could ever design.
